Consists of continuous spiral glass threads. It has a particularly strong resistance to traction and extensibility.
This cord has a wide range of applications to mention:
- bindings for motor windings mechanisms and electrical resistances
- electric cable padding and reinforcement between primary and secondary insulation
The impregnation with synthetic resins makes the cord elastic and at the same time increases its tensile strength.
In fact, this impregnation step locks the spiral threads together so as to form a single body and thus avoid the disintegration of the cord itself (anti-fraying treatment).
The resin is perfectly compatible with:
- impregnating varnishes normally used for insulating transformers, electric motors, etc.
- polyester and polyurethane epoxy resins
